Hi Zack,
I?m a seasoned fan and watch read and talk a lot of car stuff.
I took auto mechanics as a major in highschool and my teacher Bruno Toffinello ( big and tough as his name) taught me to never refer to an internal combustion engine as a ?motor? or there was consequenses.
A motor is electric, and with hybrids on the rise, misusuing the term motor can be confusing at best.
It?s a word which is msused on every car show and in every car magazine so on behalf of big ? Bruno? I?m trying to set the record straight.
Having said that, even the dictionary refers to a car engine as a motor so I guess your in good company.
Keep up the good work
Let me know what you think
Regards,
Rick

Could it be that Bruno was wrong?
Motor is widely used, that is why it is called motoring, not engine-ing.
When we refer to hybrids we do call the gasoline half "the engine" and the electric half the "motor". |
