Why does the Registrar of Imported Vehicles have the authority to determine where I go to have the adjustments made to an imported vehicle to meet current regulations?
Example - they insist that Mercedez and BMW adjustments are completed by a Canadian Mercedez or BMW dealer only. This allows these dealers to charge whatever they want as competition for this business is comploetley elliminated.
Further, the RIV should only be concerned that the vehicles meet regulation. They should not have the authority to make me spend my money at any specific dealer. As long as the work can be demonstrated as being complete then there would be no outstanding safety issues. |
I hear you. I have pointed this out on my radio show, give it a listen by clicking on the radio tab.
You need to tell Transport Canada that you disapprove, they are the ones that set the rules......RIV executes them. |
