Hi Zack,
I enjoy your show and strongly agree that Canadians are being gouged by the car companies. I just bought a brand new 2008 Sienna in the US in November. I priced out the van I wanted and it was $41,000. plus taxes at three different Canadian Dealerships. I went on the website Toyota.com, typed in a US zip code and voila, same van $29000 US. I ended up paying $28,400. Canadian plus taxes on $28600 US. My only problem was getting around Toyota USA who threatens their dealers by pulling their dealership if they sell to Canadians. (I thought we had free trade between our countries?) With the dealers help and a Montana Post Office box, I was able to purchase a van. I had no problems with the US or Canadian Customs or RIV but you are right, you must do your homework. A US Toyota Sienna LE does not have the same options as a Canadian Toyota Sienna LE. You also must make sure the vehicle is admissable to Canada. After all my expenses for the trip, fees and taxes, I saved $12,000. A friend of mine bought a high end Sienna van in the US and he figured his van would cost $71,000 taxes included in Canada and he paid $47,000. taxes included. Canadians are definately being ripped off!!!!
NOTE Please do not publish my name to protect my US dealer from Toyota USA
