Ask Zack

Horst Unger, North Vancouver British Columbia (December 4, 2007)

Hi Zack, I am a regular viewer of your show on Global TV on Sunday Mornings. Every day I see a large percentage of drivers manouvering their vehicle at highway speeds with one hand resting nonchalantly on top of the steering wheel at the 12 o?clock position ( can?t recall for sure if you have done that too in your shows ). This is a very dangerous practice. If the Air Bag activates it will smash your arm into your face with tremendous force and break your nose and face. This happens in a split second, and there is nothing the driver can do to avoid the trauma. You could do a great service to your audience by strongly recommending to your audience to place their hands at the 9 and 3 o?clock positions on the steering wheel, or even better on the 8 and 4 o?clock positions, in order to prevent the potential severe injuries due to air bag inflation ( explosion ).

Zack's Response: Great post
