I?m starting my second winter with a FJ Cruiser 5A and having been born way before 1966, I?m still not comfortable with all the electronic driving assists on the Cruiser. Specially in winter conditions. Us ?old? drivers are used to reacting almost instinctively to emergency situations and I?m not sure my reations will mesh well with the computer wizardry on modern vehicles. I?ve experimented a bit at low speed in safe conditions but I?m not sure how the vehicle and I will react in an emergency condition. For instance, if it starts to skid in the rear and goes too far will the VSC exacerbate the condition and erase all chances I have of recovering from it? I usually just engage 4X4 to turn it off ( then I?ll know what to do.) But what if it happens in 2X4? I think a special segment would be very usefull for us ?older? guys and gals. |
The vehicle stability control works with your ability to keep the vehicle heading down the road and not in the ditch. I've done several testing events with it on and off and it does work. I'd leave it on at all times. The only time to take it off is when you are driving off-road. |
