I am seriously considering buying a 20l2 ford escape. The only problem is that the employee discounts & incentives expire tomorrow (Aug 31). My neighbour read an article in some paper yesterday that there there has been trouble with the transmission and rear end. Can you please confirm this problem with me TODAY. It's asking a lot I know. The other car I am considering is the Subaru Forester but the price is $7,000 more.

Hi Zack,
On Friday Aug 24 I was driving up the Coquihalla when my engine siezed. I had just had it serviced on the previous Wed (oil change etc) at a Ford Dealership. Two mechanics that I talked to (1 was a ford mechanic) said that this particular year had a design flaw which allows the oil to flow back when the vehicle is on a steep incline causing the oil pressure to drop and starving the engine of oil - resulting in a seized engine. The dealership in Kamloops told me that it will cost 8,000+ to put in a reconditioned engine (part costs 5800). A second hand engine will cost 1600-2000, if one can be found + labour. I am trying to solve this problem from Calgary as I was coming here on a family trip when I broke down. I am returning to Van Island on Friday. Have you heard of this particular design flaw? If so, shouldn't Ford have some responsibility in helping me fix the problem. The Ford Dealership mechanics said that I am just unlucky and no one is to blame. My wehicle only had 101,000 km on it.
Help!
Theresa

I am looking at buying a used 2012 Ford Escape XLT 4WD at a local Ford dealership. It has 24,000 km on it and seems to be in excellent shape, and I think it will suit my needs, plus it has a few bells and whistles that I've never had before (I'm driving a 1995 Neon). The dealer is asking $22,500 for it. Is this price in line? What is a reasonable counteroffer? Is there a ''rule of thumb''? Would really appreciate your advice before I begin negotiating next week. I'm totally new at this and a nervous! Thanks for your help, I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi Zack
Question, i have a ford escape and the transmission blew up and i had to pay a professional transmission shop to put a new transmission in to it. that was a few months ago and now i am going to sell the escape as a trade in to a ford dealership when i am buying a newer used truck
do i have to disclose to the dealer that i had to put a new transmission into the escape?
what are the disclosure requirements beyond accidents that cost more than $2k to repair?
thank you

salesman tried to sell me an 2012 with an '' after market '' sunroof done at dealer..
what are your thoughts?
also hear conflicting reports some good some bad on this car.
is the new escape 2012 as high/tall?
why doe dealers charge'' documentation fee?
I heard it is a bogus fee and not to pay it..at all..he didn't when he bought his Ford Escape
Thanks
