2012 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo
The Scoop
There are certain cars that the average consumer knows little about but a select few enthusiasts go batty for. The Subaru WRX STi, Golf R and this Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution are a few that fans of ''pocket rockets'' crave to own. Basically, these are modified version of rather sedate family vehicles. To make a regular car go like stink, the manufacturers place more powerful turbocharged engines, modify the suspension, brakes and tuning, plus improve the seating for a more aggressive attitude. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is not sold as a hatchback, where the others are, but the Subaru is sold as both a hatch and sedan. What the Lancer Evolution gains in terms of performance and external appeal it lacks creature comforts and is always ''on'' feeling takes time to appreciate.
The Skin
Even though most people don't know what a Lancer Evolution is, once they see one they certainly know it is something different. The body has extra cladding on the lower side skirts, the front grille is large and blacked-out for a more aggressive look, plus the 18-inch wheels, or optional BBS wheels seen here, frame the large Brembo brakes. The huge rear wing is a bit ridiculous looking and thankfully it is optional, a more sedate version is standard. For those that like attention can pay extra for the huge wing. For a certain buyer the Lancer Evolution is a statement car so Mitsubishi offers all kinds of extra trim pieces in a variety of colours to make any Evolution pop. 1 | 2 | 3 | Next Page |
