Ever since the BMW 335 was introduced in 2007 I have held it in very high esteem and so have other auto journalists and engineers. The 6-cylinder BMW turbo engine has won several ''Engine of the Year'' awards and it constantly receives recognition as a true enthusiasts car. Well now there is another big dog on the block, the Audi S4. With a starting price only $400 more than the BMW 335 Xdrive (all-wheel drive) sedan. This is a good vehicle to compare to the BMW, it has similar appeal and might have a slight edge over the BMW because the market is flooded with 335's, where the S4 is still relatively unique and special.
The Skin
The S4 is based on the A4 and when the latest body came out in 2009 it received much fanfare because of the added rear-seat legroom. This is what will make this car that much more attractive to enthusiast buyers...you can have some fun driving an S4 on your own and still have room when you need to drive around passengers. The longer wheelbase makes the S4 look long and skinny, where the BMW might be a more cohesive design. The signature Audi LED running lights still impress many potential buyers because so many other manufacturers have copied this sporty and elegant touch. To make the S4 stand out there are additional elements added into this already beautiful design, including ''S'' badging, more aggressive front and rear bumpers, sportier wheel designs and chrome tipped exhaust. The problem is that Audi confuses buyers because there regular A4 can be equipped with ''S-line'' badging and unique details, which can steal a bit of thunder from the S4.
Al 5:36 PM on April 8, 2012 Hello I am thinking of getting a 2009 Audi S5 with 96000km and wondering what are your thoughts. I am concerned about the relaibailty of thw 4 3 V8. Of course it depends on how the previous owner maintained it. Is therr anything I should look out for. As well I have a 2004 BMW 530I with 163,000 km. The vehicle was in an accident where the drive side and driver side rear door were replaced. The work was done by BMW. My vehicle is exclusively serviced by BMW. Wholesale is 10,000 but releasticly what should I expect.
Motormouth.ca says: 3:58 PM on April 23, 2012 I'd go to www.canadianblackbook.com to get the value of the BMW. I would make sure to get an aftermarket warranty for an S5. Also, look on-line at Audi web forums to get impressions from S5 owners and their repair history. Personally I wouldn't touch a used S5, too much trouble from what I have heard.
Phil Gordon 4:55 PM on February 26, 2012 Hey Zack,
When are the dealer auctions. I am looking for a 2012 Audi Premium S4. Do you have any leads on one that has been a dealer vehicle. Low KM's is a must. Any info that may help is greatly appreciated.
Motormouth.ca says: 1:18 PM on February 27, 2012 I would contact Adesa, the auction company that does the public and dealer auction. Typically one year old cars would not go through the public auction, more than likely a 2012 Audi would be sold by a dealer to another dealer.
