It's amazing to realize that this segment of vehicle was only introduced just over a decade ago when the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV-4 burst onto the scene. 1997 marked the arrival of the Honda CR-V and since then it has been a favourite with Canadians, making it the second best selling Honda after the legendary Civic. 2012 marks the arrival of a fourth generation, heavily updated CR-V, with more power, room, refinement and features.
The Skin
With a fifty percent increase in compact crossover sales over the last five years, the importance of this CR-V should not be understated; this product is a big deal for Honda. Updating this legendary ''cute ute'' was an exercise in refinement, not a total reinvention. In order to achieve a more upscale approach, the designers actually made the CR-V shorter, yet trick the eye into thinking it is longer. The roof is now lower, with a steeper windshield and the lower body cladding has been smoothed for a more car-like design. The biggest change is to the side windows and rear hatch area. The glass at the back, corner of the CR-V has been elongated and sweeps upwards, conveying motion. The roofline extends farther back, producing a squarer back end also creating a larger cargo area. These are all cleaver tricks, making this new CR-V recognizable and more appealing.
Darbi 8:00 PM on April 19, 2013 Appreciate all the comments about the CR-V. However, no mention of the durability on country gravel roads. We have had 2 Honda Civic SIs and one Honda Civic, have loved all of them and experienced absolutely no problems. But they do not stand up to Alberta's gravel roads and country highways. As much as we would love to continue driving Civics we need something with more durability (other than our trucks). All tests seem to be in cities only.

Motormouth.ca says: 7:57 PM on March 19, 2013 I have driven one a few years ago, not much has changed. This is a good light-duty pickup. The engine and transmission choices are limited to one, so the domestics have many more choices. This is basically an SUV based pickup.
Dick 6:13 PM on March 14, 2013 Hi Been looking to purchase new 2013 SUV. Have narrowed it down to Honda crv vs Toyota rav 4. Torn between the two. Would like some unbiased feedback/thoughts on which one would be the better choice.

CR-V 9:04 AM on February 4, 2013 Hey Zack. Miss seeing you on driving television !! I was just wondering why the rear dvd system is not available in Canada or if it will be soon. I see its availabe on the U.S. site and i would bye from the their just to get the factory installed system.
